Ad Valorem Shipping Insurance
The "ad valorem" shipping insurance protects your shipments based on the order invoice value. In case of loss or damage during transport, the compensation can be close to the actual value of the order, unlike the carrier's standard compensation, which is usually calculated by weight.
Why should I get Bigblue's shipping insurance? 🛡️

☝️ In the event of a lost or damaged parcel, the carrier compensation you'll be entitled to is based on your parcel's weight — not on its declared value.
💰 When shipping high-value items and/or light products, the ad valorem shipping insurance acts as complimentary insurance: it can compensate up to the invoice value of your parcel (excl. taxes), as declared in Bigblue, and up to a maximum of 2,000€ excluding taxes.

The cost depends on the insured value of the order and the destination:

- For shipments valued over €10,000: consult with your Bigblue point of contact to validate availability and specific conditions.
- Country coverages:
- European Union, United Kingdom, Andorra, Switzerland, Norway and San Marino.
- Non-EU European countries, United States of America, Canada and Far East (China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Singapore)
- Countries in Central America (including Mexico), South America, Africa and the Middle East.
💡 Your insurance costs are invoiced at the end of each Billing Period. Each invoice will only include insured orders that were prepared.

Easy! Learn how to:
A) Establece un seguro automático para los pedidos de su tienda electrónica
Asegure automáticamente los pedidos de su tienda electrónica que superen un umbral:
- Click on your initials at the bottom left corner
- Click on Logistics
- Selecciona la pestaña Seguro
- Activa el autoseguro pulsando el botón de conmutación para que se vuelva azul (A)
- Specify the Minimum insurance threshold in euros (B), i.e. the minimum order value (excl. taxes) to which the insurance should apply (which should be strictly lower than 1999€)
⚠️ These settings do not apply to orders created manually through the app. For these, see section B.section B.
B) Asegurar los pedidos creados manualmente
Para asegurar los pedidos que creas manualmente:
- Crea una orden como se explica en este artículo
- Al rellenar los datos del pedido, en la parte del Seguro, elija Asegurar su pedido por una cobertura de hasta X€.
⚠️ The default setting for insurance on your shipments will be No insurance so if you do require insurance, make sure to change it!

C) Asegurar los pedidos importados a través de CSV
When preparing your orders CSV file you can determine which orders will be insured:
- Fill in the ShipmentInsurance(Y/N) column with a "Y" for orders that need to be insured
- Importa tu archivo y ya está todo listo.
💡Si es necesario, puedes entonces modificar la configuración del seguro de estas órdenes como se explica en la sección D.
D) Modificar la configuración del seguro de una orden existente
⚠️Remember that you may edit an order only when its status is No fulfillment, Backorder, or Pending, as explained in this article.
En la página del pedido:
- Scroll down until you see the Insurance part
- Click on Edit
- Haz clic en el botón de alternancia para activar o desactivar el seguro
- Edit the Insurance value if needed

How can I file an insurance claim? 📝
If your order has encountered an issue during transportation, our team will take care of filing the claim. Contact us via your account manager or help@bigblue.io and make sure you:
- Indica el problema (¿se ha dañado o perdido el envío?)
⚠️ Keep in mind that only tangible proofs of loss or damage are accepted. As such, orders marked as delivered but not received by your customers will not be considered.
- Indica el número de pedido de Bigblue
Si el envío ha sido dañado, por favor:
- Carga una copia del documento firmado por su cliente en la recepción (si procede)
- Describe brevemente la naturaleza de los productos dañados
- Sube una foto de la mercancía dañada en su embalaje
Si el envío se ha perdido, por favor:
- Cargar una declaración jurada del cliente que acredite la no recepción del paquete + una copia del DNI del cliente
- Subir una copia de la investigación con el transportista que demuestre que el paquete se ha perdido

What are the warranty exclusion provisions? ⛔
El seguro Ad Valorem no puede activarse en algunos casos, aquí hay una lista no exhaustiva de esos eventos:
- Desaparición inexplicable, como un paquete entregado pero no recibido en caso de un servicio sin contrafirma
- Damage in case of inherent defect, quality or vice of the goods
